in Zimbabwe
Digital Literacy for Educators: Catalyst for Education 5.0 & Industry 4.0
5 - 8 May 2026
Amai Mugabe Group of Schools,
Mazowe
The Workshop
The Information and Communication Technology Association of Zimbabwe (ICTAZ) is a national ICT think tank established to promote the development, adoption, and responsible use of ICTs as tools and catalysts for sustainable development. The organization works to empower society to master emerging technologies while also monitoring the impact of ICTs on society and the environment.
Through its Strategic Plan 2024–2026, ICTAZ prioritizes initiatives that expand digital access, promote digital literacy, and strengthen innovation and research in the ICT sector. The strategy recognizes that low levels of digital literacy and limited ICT skills remain key challenges affecting the uptake and effective use of digital technologies in Zimbabwe. Addressing these gaps through training and capacity-building programs is therefore central to achieving an inclusive digital economy and supporting national development goals.
In line with its mandate to promote ICT education, training, and capacity building, ICTAZ—together with its academic partners—meticulously planned the Digital Literacy Workshop for STEM Educators in Zimbabwe. The workshop aims to enhance the digital competencies of STEM educators by equipping them with practical skills, tools, and pedagogical approaches needed to effectively integrate emerging technologies into teaching, research, and innovation.
By empowering educators with digital skills and competencies, the initiative will contribute to bridging the digital divide, strengthening STEM education, and supporting Zimbabwe’s transition towards a digitally inclusive and knowledge-driven economy.
The rapid advancement of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) is transforming education, research, and socio-economic development worldwide. In Zimbabwe, the integration of digital technologies into education systems is essential for preparing learners and educators to participate effectively in the digital economy. Strengthening digital literacy among educators—particularly in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM)—is therefore critical for promoting innovation, improving teaching and learning outcomes, and building a knowledge-based society.
